Aqua Plant Journal
Privacy Policy
Effective 9 September 2026
At a glance
- No account, no login. Aqua Plant Journal doesn't ask who you are.
- Your tank data stays on your phone. Aquariums, readings, maintenance logs and reminders are stored only in the app's local database — nothing is uploaded to us, because we don't run a server.
- Ads and purchases are handled by Google. The free version shows ads (Google AdMob); the one-time upgrade is processed by Google Play Billing. We never see your payment details.
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on the device, including your aquarium history.
01
Data the app collects
Aqua Plant Journal itself has no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, and no account system. The data below is either kept entirely on your device, or handled by the two Google services the app relies on.
Aquarium & water-test data
On-device only
Tank names, volume, substrate, NO3 · PO4 · KH · GH · pH readings, maintenance logs and reminder schedules — stored in a local database. We have no way to read it, back it up, or transmit it.
Advertising identifiers
Google AdMob
If you're on the free tier, AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and general ad-interaction data to serve and measure banner and interstitial ads. In the EEA and UK, this only happens after you respond to the consent form shown on first launch.
Purchase status
Google Play Billing
The one-time "unlock lifetime access" purchase is processed entirely by Google Play. The app only stores a local true/false flag for whether it should show ads and the aquarium limit — it never sees your card details.
02
Services we rely on
Two Google SDKs are built into the app. Each is governed by Google's own policies, linked below.
Google UMP SDK
Shows the consent form and remembers your ad-privacy choice on this device.
03
Your choices
Open Settings → Privacy options inside the app at any time to review or withdraw ad consent — this control is always available where local law requires it. Buying the one-time upgrade removes ads entirely, which also stops AdMob's data use in the app. To remove all locally stored aquarium data, delete the app.
04
Children
Aqua Plant Journal is a hobbyist water-chemistry tool aimed at general audiences and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
05
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Effective" date at the top will be updated. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
